Best for: Transit passengers with a few hours between trains

  • 00:00–00:30: Arrive at Guntakal Junction. Leave luggage at the cloak room (available at the station).
  • 00:30–01:00: Take an auto-rickshaw to Kasapuram Temple (negotiate round trip ~‍300–400).
  • 01:00–02:30: Visit Nettikanti Veera Anjaneya Swamy Temple. Explore the temple complex, offer prayers, take photos.
  • 02:30–03:00: Return to Guntakal Junction area.
  • 03:00–03:45: Grab a quick Andhra meal at a restaurant near the station (try the Andhra thali).
  • 03:45–04:00: Head to the platform, board your connecting train.

Tip: Keep at least 30 minutes buffer before your train departure. Confirm your platform number via NTES app or station display before leaving the station area.

🏔️ Full-Day Itinerary (8–10 hours)

Best for: Pilgrims and travelers with a full day to explore

Morning: Kasapuram Temple

  • 06:00–06:30: Early morning auto to Kasapuram Temple. Arrive during morning aarti (approximately 6:00–6:30 AM).
  • 06:30–08:30: Temple visit. Explore the main shrine, surrounding areas, and have breakfast at a nearby eatery.
  • 08:30–09:00: Return to Guntakal.

Mid-Day: Guntakal Town & Lunch

  • 09:00–10:30: Explore Guntakal town. Visit the local market, the bus stand area, and the railway station heritage building.
  • 10:30–11:30: Lunch at a local restaurant (try Hotel Srinivasam or Sri Venkateswara Bhavan).

Afternoon: Gooty Fort

  • 11:30–12:30: Take a bus or taxi to Gooty (30 km, ~40 mins).
  • 12:30–15:30: Climb and explore Gooty Fort. Take in the panoramic views. Carry water and snacks.
  • 15:30–16:30: Return to Guntakal.
  • 16:30 onwards: Rest, freshen up, and depart for your next destination.

Important: Start early to avoid the afternoon heat. The fort climb is moderately strenuous — wear sturdy shoes.

🌍 2-Day Itinerary — Guntakal as Base Camp

Best for: Travelers wanting to explore the wider Anantapur / Rayalaseema region

Day 1: Guntakal & Gooty

  • Morning: Arrive in Guntakal. Check into a hotel (Hotel Srinivasam recommended).
  • Late morning: Visit Kasapuram Temple.
  • Lunch: Andhra thali at a local restaurant.
  • Afternoon: Explore Gooty Fort (3–4 hours).
  • Evening: Return to Guntakal. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Penukonda & Anantapur (or Lepakshi)

Option A: Penukonda + Anantapur

  • 06:00: Check out. Take a bus/taxi to Penukonda (80 km, ~2 hrs).
  • 08:00–11:00: Explore Penukonda Fort & Palace ruins.
  • 11:00–12:00: Travel to Anantapur (40 km).
  • 12:00–14:00: Visit ISKCON Temple, lunch in Anantapur.
  • 14:00 onwards: Bus or train to your next destination from Anantapur.

Option B: Lepakshi (for heritage lovers)

  • 06:00: Check out. Hire a taxi for the day (recommended for this route).
  • 06:00–09:00: Drive to Lepakshi (120 km, ~3 hrs).
  • 09:00–12:00: Explore Veerabhadra Temple, Hanging Pillar, Nandi monolith, frescoes.
  • 12:00–13:00: Lunch near Lepakshi.
  • 13:00 onwards: Drive to Hindupur (nearest railway station, 15 km) or continue to Bengaluru (110 km).
